The hidden treasure

Last week at BSF we learnt 4 parables that describe the kingdom of heaven. If someone asks you what kingdom of heaven is, how would you describe it?

I wouldnt go into details on the 4 parables but just on the parable of hidden treasure and the pearl (matt 13 : 44- 46) because I learn a truth that i never knew before

Matthew 13:44-46 NIV

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.     “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.  When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

I used to think that the hidden treasure is Jesus Christ, which is not wrong but actually theres more to it.
The word of God is trully the double edged sword.

Psalm 135:4 NIV

For the Lord has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession.

Clearly from this verse we can see that WE are God's treasured. The man in that parable actually sold everything just so that he can have that hidden treasure, likewise the parable of the pearl. And God has displayed such love thru Jesus. He gave up His everything else including Jesus just so that we may be His precious ones . How comforting it is to know that.

It was an eye opening moment for me because all this while i thought God expects me to regard Jesus as my hidden treasure and He should be my first priority in life but little that I know long before I regard Jesus as my treasure, I have been God's treasure all this while.

For all of you who are reading this right now and wonder how can we be His treasure when we are so sinful at times?
Just like how our parents love us since we were born ( regardless of whether we grew up to be good kid or not), God's love for us is much more than that. We dont need to earn His favor but we are favored even without our awareness.

What will you do today to thank Him?
How can you let others know that they too are God's hidden treasure?

All glory to God
